We have a couple of things to let you know before arriving at camp with medication.
When you arrive to check in, please bring your camper’s medication inside with you. You will need to turn in all medications IN THEIR ORIGINAL CONTAINERS – this allows our nurse to be able to see the name of the medication along with dosage. It helps us avoid any confusion with administering meds and keeps your camper safe. (Exceptions are inhalers and epi pens.)
Below is a link for a form that you can fill out before arriving. If you fill this form out and return it prior to check in, we can have all of your medication in our system before you arrive and then there will be a simple verification process when you check in. You can email the form to highhillforms@gmail.com or text a picture of it to 636-466-0292.
Parents always ask if it’s okay if the camper, faculty member, or a parent (if volunteering) can keep the camper’s medication with them. The short answer is no – we don’t want to seem like we are control freaks, but from experience, it is better if the nurse has ALL medications. This eliminates confusion about if and when a camper has received meds and also allows us to keep other campers safe. We do not allow our cabin leaders to distribute ANY medication to campers – this includes vitamins, gummies, etc.
INHALERS & EPI PENS – our nurse keeps these in her backpack and with her at all times. This allows us to know EXACTLY where lifesaving medication is in case of an emergency. Our nurse is reachable by walkie-talkie AND cell phone and can usually be where needed within minutes.
If you have specific questions, please feel free to email me or talk to the nurse during check in. We are happy to help in whatever way we can and want to keep your campers as safe and healthy as possible.

We do our best to accommodate SEVERE food allergies (such as nuts) within our camps, but our staff are not allergy professionals. If you have any concerns about severe food allergies, please be sure to note that on your assessment form and we will make sure you can speak with our camp medic and head cook before you leave.
Due to many factors, we are not able to prepare individualized dishes for our campers with allergies. You may choose to send your camper with their own food, if that eases your or your camper’s concerns. Our dining hall has a dedicated refrigerator/freezer, microwave and toaster for our campers who have dietary restraints. We recommend all meals that you send are pre-made and able to be reheated in the microwave. If you feel that you can send food that your camper can prepare themselves or use the microwave to make, that would be fine as well. Please label all items sent with your camper’s full name.
The planned menu for the session is attached so you can decide what your camper can or cannot eat. Feel free to reach out to Melissa if you have any questions about the ingredients of any thing listed or anything else food related. She is more than happy to help in whatever way she can.
